Osh Tajikistan

Day 1

Dushanbe to Kalaikhum

Meeting with a driver at a hotel/guest-house in Dushanbe and heading to the Pamirs via Kulob. On the way stop in Vose to see Hulbuk fortress and the mausoleum of a poet and scholar of the 14th century, Khoja Mir Sayid Hamadani in Kulob. Overnight in a homestay in Kalai-Khumb town ($15-$18 USD ppp for dinner. bed and breakfast). Hiking possible to Karon archeological complex in Kalai Khum.

Kalaikhum to Khorog

Day 2

Departing Kalai-Khumb (Darvaz) and heading to Khorog. On the way enjoying the Afghan villages along the Panj (Oxus) River. Afternoon Khorog City Tour: Botanical Garden, Khorog Ismaili Center and Jamaatkhana, City Park. Overnight in a Pamiri traditional house in Khorog (special deal for my clients only $15 USD ppp for bed and breakfast). The traditional house is located near the river bank in a very peaceful and beautiful place. You will enjoy the sound of the glacial river and the beautiful nature. Almost all my tourists recall this place a a "peaceful heaven" :) If we get to Khorog on Friday evening, it will be possible to visit the Afghan market.

Day 3

Khorog to Wakhan Corridor Afganistan

Heading to the Tajik Wakhan. On the way visiting the ruins of Kah-Kaha and Yamchun fortresses, Bibi Fotima hot-spring, pre-Islamic shrines, Museum of Sufi Muboraki Vakhoni, astronomer and scholar of the 19th century. Overnight in a homestay ($15-$18 USD ppp for a bed, dinner and breakfast) in Hisor / Langar village. If we dont make it to Afghan market in Khorog then we will have a chance to visit it in Ishakshim part if we will be there by Saturday morning.

Wakhan Corridor Afganistan to Langar

Day 4

Engels Meadows Trek. Highlights: breathtaking view of the Wakhan, both Tajik and Afghan, with Hindukush on the background, great view of immense Engels (6507 m) South Face. Overnight in a homestay ($15-$18 USD ppp for a bed, dinner and breakfast) in Hisor/Langar village.

Day 5

Langar to Bulunkul

Driving to Bulunkul settlement (coldest place in Tajikistan) via the Khargush pass (4344 m). 2-3 hike to the viewpoint of the pass (Panarama Ridge). After lunch at a homestay in Bulunkul, discover the village and the lakes. Continue driving to Alichur. Overnight in a homestay/yurt ($15-$18 USD ppp for a bed, dinner and breakfast) in Alichur.

Depart Karakul and drive to Sary-Tash of Kyrgyzstan. If there are no clouds on the horizon you will enjoy the views of Lenin Peak (7134 m).

Day 9

Sary-Tash to Osh

Day hike to the base camp of Lenin Peak. In the evening drive to Osh. Overnight in a guest-house / hotel in Osh. End of tour.

Half day yak safari to observe the wildlife (in particular of sheep and ibex). In the evening drive to Murghab. Overnight in a homestay ($15-$18 USD ppp for a bed, dinner and breakfast) in Murghab.

Murghab to Karakul

Discover the local bazaar. Driving to Karakul (‘black’ lake) via the highest point of the Pamir Highway, Ak-Baital pass (4655 m). In the afternoon hike along the lake or hike to one of the viewpoints of the lake. Short stop to hike along the Karakul
